Today, I came across this article.

I myself have just finished my latest IB50 form (what a nightmare!) and here they are proposing yet more changes. The one quote that really got me mad was from George Osbourne, the shadow chancellor, saying that with more government funding for back-to-work schemes, "you could get these people off the benefits and save everyone money, and also give these people a better life."
Well, that's just lovely. Are you, like me, one of "these people"? Do you think that with a bit more pressure (oh, sorry, I mean 'help') from some official body you could finally be persuaded to get off your lazy backside and get a job? Because, after all, that's all that's stopping "these people", isn't it? If only the government could find the incentives there would be no such thing as sickness or disability. With sufficient "encouragement" all "these people" could have "a better life."
OK, rant over. But really, the majority of the people well enough to hold down a governmental job are in no position to ever understand what it is like to live with a long-term sickness or a disability. How can there ever be a fair and sensible system if the people making the rules and the people living under them are separated by such a gulf in understanding?
